  • Join us online at 11am on the 18th May as our two speakers will present on the consolidated planning bill. Our two presenters  Thomas Freeman and Douglas Hyde will give an overview of the bill and look at areas such as control of development, enforcement and correction of errors in planning decisions. The presentation will also look at cost involved in judicial review proceedings, second new bill and locus standi.

    Douglas Hyde BE (Hons), Dip TP, MBA, Master of Urban & Building Conservation, Barrister-at Law

    Douglas is a practising barrister specialising in planning and environmental law, a fellow of Engineers Ireland, a qualified town planner and a member of the Irish Planning Institute. He had been Director of Services with Fingal County Council prior to gaining extensive private sector experience. He is author of the book “Building on the Past: Urban Change and Archaeology”, published by the Environmental Institute, University College Dublin.

    Thomas Freeman Dip Geo Surv, BSc (Hons), MA tp, MBA Barrister-at-Law

    Thomas is a practising barrister specialising in planning and environmental law, a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and a town planner with over 20 years experience in the public and private sector.  He regularly lectures on the Law Society’s Planning and Environmental Law Programme and acts as internal examiner. He co-authored the book “Waste Management Legislation – Annotated and Consolidated published by Clarus Press.  He is also a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Standing Committee on Regulation (SCoR).
