    Overview: This CPD will provide an overview of key GDPR considerations for agents acting as data controllers during the property sales process. This session will be accompanied by the launch of a forthcoming Guidance Note to members on the same subject.

    Speaker bios:

    Katie Dempsey

    Katie is a Policy & Research Executive in the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland. Katie’s role includes gathering and analysing evidence-based data to produce industry research reports and liaising with members to harness their expertise to support new ideas and new approaches in shaping public policy. Katie joined the SCSI’s Practice and Policy team in 2020. Prior to this, she worked in policy and research for a Government agency, working to ensure the growth and development of Irish enterprises in world markets.

    Colin Smyth

    Colin Smyth joined DVWSmyth as a consultant in 2021 having commenced his extensive property career back in 1999 as a Sales Negotiator with Sherry FitzGerald. He worked in a number of their Dublin branches including as Senior Negotiator in their Ranelagh Branch and was appointed Manager of their Drumcondra Branch in 2006.

    In response to both market and client demands, Colin established the Valuations and Professional Services Department of Sherry FitzGerald in mid-2007. This Department offered a dedicated valuation service to private individuals and the legal profession across the greater Dublin area. Colin is a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland and a Registered Valuer with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Colin is also a member of the Housing & Development Committee of The Peter McVerry Trust.
