This CPD will provide an insight on the concept of evaluative mediation and how it can assist parties in the most complex disputes in property and built environment sector. This session will provide an overview of the process and highlight key skills a successful mediator needs to understand and demonstrate. The development of the RICS ACRE Mediation Programme.
Speaker bio:
Dr John Fletcher
John Fletcher was born in South Africa, took his B Com LLB from Rhodes University and his M Phil and PhD in law from Cambridge. He practised at the Johannesburg Bar for ten years and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
John is the RICS Director of Dispute Resolution and is responsible for RICS’s global Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) which provides training, accreditation, panel administration and appointments across the disciplines of arbitration, adjudication, dispute boards, mediation and expert witnesses.
Prior to working for RICS, John was the Projects Director for ADR Group. He developed their
international joint ventures in South Africa, Europe, Brazil, the Caribbean and other developing countries; their UK workplace mediation service, and their mediation training in UK universities.At RICS John has overseen the extensive development of DRS in the UK and internationally, as well as its bespoke dispute resolution and conflict avoidance consultancy, and works in close association with major government, institutional and business partners. John has also spearheaded the creation of the International Coalition for Conflict Avoidance which is growing rapidly in the infrastructure and construction industries.
