  • This CPD will provide an overview of the connections applications process, the connection charging policy, quality assurance requirements and technical guidance developed to support customers, and an overview of a pilot Self Lay project and plans to develop water industry accreditation.

    Topics covered will include:

    • Overview of the core Connections and Developer Services processes: pre connection enquiries and connection applications
    • Overview of the Connection Charging Policy and associated charges
    • Quality Assurance & IW Technical Documentation
    • Self-Lay in the Public Road Pilot & path to Water Industry Accreditation

    There will be time allocated for Q&A at the end of the session.

    Speaker Bios:

    Kate Gannon leads the Connections and Developer Services function in Irish Water. A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland, she has 19 years’ experience in water services. Kate joined Irish Water in late 2012 and worked in the Asset Management and Corporate Affairs functions before joining the connections team in November 2020. Prior to Irish Water, Kate worked as a consulting engineer in project management and business development roles.

    Brian Quinn is a Chartered Engineer and the Development Manager with Irish Water’s Connections and Developer Services. Brian has over 24 years’ experience in the utilities and local government sectors, including roles in Irish Water/ERVIA, various Local Authorities and Bord na Móna. He joined Irish Water in early 2014 and for the last 4 ½ years is the CDS Development Manager. He developed and now leads a large team nationally that quality assure all new developer self lay water services infrastructure, that will be transferred to Irish Water.
