  • Join other Southern Region members for this 1 hour peer to peer session beginning with a short presentation from Michael Mooring on ethics.

    Michael will define the term “professional ethics” and explain why it is particularly important to construction professionals. He will also identify the 5 basic assumptions that underpin our understanding of the subject and outline the provisions within the various codes of conduct that apply to professionals practicing in the property and construction industry. He will use the breakout groups to explain the current guidance available from the RICS / SCSI to members on aspects of their practice

    Speaker Profile:

    Michael Mooring LLM, Dip Arb, MSCSI, MRICS is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with almost 50 years’ experience in the Construction Industry. Michael has accumulated a wide range of knowledge and experience of construction contracts and dispute resolution procedures from having worked in several medium and large-scale Building Contractors, Civil Engineering Contractors, Quantity Surveying Practices and Multi-Disciplinary Practices. He has also been called upon to act as an Expert Witness in various Arbitration and High Court Proceedings.

    Since 1989 Michael has used his knowledge and experience to design and deliver a range of undergraduate and post-graduate degree courses in Ireland and the UK. He has also been involved in the design and delivery of several short courses relating to construction contracts and procurement. Most recently he has been involved in the delivery of lectures relating to the area of Professional Ethics to students in Malaysia and China.
