This one-day workshop will cover the finance essentials for executives from a non-financial background. The workshop will facilitate participants gaining further in-depth knowledge of  financial statements, cash management, the nature of debt and more. The workshop would suit those who are a board director or thinking about joining a board, a budget manager looking to better track firm performance or a construction industry executive looking to contribute to financial decision-making.

You will learn to spot early warning signs of distress in the financial statements. You will also learn corporate governance best practices that can help protect a firm in volatile environments. This workshop will explain the jargon used in financial discussions to allow you to contribute more effectively to financial decision-making. It will give you an understanding of the financial characteristics of firms in the construction sector and the challenges and opportunities that arise from those characteristics.

Speaker: Caroline Kirrane has over a decade of experience working in financial markets. She has an undergraduate degree in European Business and French from Dublin City University. She also holds a first class Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Trinity College Dublin and is a CFA Charterholder.  After completing her undergraduate degree in France, Caroline began her career working in a hedge fund in Paris. She then returned to Dublin, working in US-based proprietary trading firm Susquehanna. Caroline has held positions in Dexia, FinTech start-up Eagle Alpha and has also worked as an economist with the Central Bank of Ireland, advising senior policy-makers on financial market developments.
