Appointments to SCSI Admissions Board, Professional Conduct Board and Appeals Board
Background
Under the Building Control Act 2007, the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage is required to nominate Chairpersons and ordinary members to certain boards of the registration body of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.
Expressions of interest are requested in order that a panel can be established to fill upcoming vacancies.
In order to be an effective contributor on a board with statutory functions it is recommended that members should:
- bring independent and objective scrutiny to the oversight of the board;
- be prepared to be challenging when necessary while being supportive to the objectives of the board;
- be equipped to offer considered advice on the basis of sound judgement and experience;
- display high standards of integrity and probity;
- be prepared to make a time commitment to their work commensurate with their role.
Board Appointments
Appointment to the SCSI Admissions Board
- Location: Dublin
- Number of Vacancies: 4 ordinary members
- Remuneration by SCSI: Ordinary Members: Expenses for attendance at meetings
- Time Requirements: 10 meetings per year (2-3 hours) and 1 half day induction
Appointment to the SCSI Professional Conduct Committee
- Location:Dublin
- Number of Vacancies: 6 ordinary members
- Remuneration by SCSI: Ordinary Members: Expenses for attendance at meetings
- Time Requirements: 8 meetings per year (2-3 hours) and 1 half day induction
Appointment to the SCSI Appeals Board
- Location: Dublin
- Number of Vacancies: 2 ordinary members
- Remuneration by SCSI: Ordinary Members: Expenses for attendance at meetings
- Time Requirements: 8 meetings per year (2-3 hours) and 1 half day induction
It should be noted that in line with the ‘One Person One Salary’ principle, no public servant will be entitled to receive remuneration in the form of board fees, save for situations that are statutorily provided for e.g. Worker Directors). Travel and subsistence is payable at appropriate Civil Service rates.
