Join us on Thursday, 16th October, for the Geospatial Conference 2025 – an in-person event dedicated to advancing Ireland’s geomatics and surveying community.

As the largest annual gathering of geospatial professionals in Ireland, the conference brings together leading voices, industry experts, and practitioners to share insights, innovations, and best practices. This year’s theme, “Professional Development & Development of the Profession – Geodesy Matters,” will focus on the evolving role of geodesy in shaping the future of the surveying profession and supporting the continued growth of expertise across the sector. This years conference will start with lunch for all delegates at 1pm with presentations starting at 2:30pm.

13:00 Delegates are welcomed  into the Exhibition area with lunch 

14:00 Opening Welcome from Paddy Prendergast, Chair of the Geomatic Professional Group.

14:05 History of the Profession presented by Dr Finnian O'Cionnaith a trained land surveyor with a strong interest in the early history of the profession. He completed his PhD in History at Maynooth University in 2011 and has written several books on the history of land measurement in early-modern Ireland. 

14:25 Project Risks and Emerging Skills, more info on speaker to follow. 

14:45 TU Dublin Apprenticeship Programme in this session, Eugen Niculae will explore the role of apprenticeships in the built environment, highlighting how “earn-and-learn” pathways support industry-ready skills.  This session will be followed by a panel discussion

15:20 National Geodesy Overview – Tailte Eireann - speaker tbc 

15:50 Open Data – Uses & Benefits – Speaker Rob Ovington from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government 

16:10 Virtual Networks with Simon Crother from Topcon. This session will be followed by a panel discussion.
