Speakers
Brigid Browne is a Registered and Chartered Building Surveyor and Building Control Surveyor and is a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and Engineers Ireland. She is the owner and managing director of Fortress Planning.
Pat Nestor is the Senior Building Surveyor and Head of the Building Control Division of Dublin City Council since 2016 and has been working in Building Control since he commenced his career in the local authority sector with Cork City Council in 2002. He has been part of several working groups in the area of building standards including the working group which produced ‘Bringing Back Homes, A Manual for the Reuse of Existing Buildings’ first published in 2018 and more recently he was a member of the Building Standards Regulator Steering Group which was tasked with providing strategic guidance to the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage in relation to the establishment of a national Building Standards Regulator.
A Chartered Surveyor, Pat is Vice-Chair of the Building Surveying Professional Group of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and a member of the Society’s Membership and Public Affairs Committee. He is also a member of the statutory Professional Conduct Committee for Building Surveyors established under Section 51 of the Building Control Act 2007.
James Lonergan is the Director of Education & CPD at the SCSI, with over 15 years’ experience working in Education. Within James’ role in SCSI he is responsible for providing guidance, support and advice to staff, the Board; the Education Standing Committee; relevant sub committees etc. on all matters relating to education and membership policy, procedures and strategy.
