Job Description
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) is responsible for leading the transformation of public procurement across the public sector, for developing the procurement policy framework, and for providing supports to public bodies and suppliers.
It carries out the sourcing of goods and services that assist Irish Public Bodies in the delivery of important public services to and on behalf of citizens.
The OGP delivers a wide variety of sourcing activity through the establishment of national Framework Agreements, delivering both mini competitions and bespoke competitions for goods and services for our customers across the public sector.
We are looking for talented and commercially aware individuals who wish to develop a career in procurement with the OGP.
Reporting to a Category Manager, the Category Specialist Higher will support the delivery of sourcing objectives and be responsible for categories of expenditure/specific spot buying activities/sourcing operations activities. They will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of procurement projects and with a wide range of stakeholders across all public service sectors, including central government, local government, health, defence and education.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate(s) will have:
- A minimum of 24 months direct sourcing experience within the last five years in a sourcing/procurement role
- Practical experience in establishing high value commercial procurement arrangements in a regulated or competitive market
- Experience of governance, quality assurance and controls in the tendering process
- Strong judgement, problem solving and decision making ability
