Since 1890, the Iveagh Trust has been building sustainable communities and transforming lives as Ireland’s oldest provider of social housing. Today, we support over 2,000 households across Dublin — from families and older people to men experiencing homelessness at the Iveagh Hostel.

The Iveagh Trust is on an ambitious journey to deliver a significant number of social and affordable homes across Dublin and the greater Leinster area. To help us achieve this, we’re looking for a Development Officer to join our dynamic team.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in expanding our housing stock by:

  • Sourcing and securing development opportunities
  • Acquiring turnkey units and existing properties
  • Managing housing development projects, including potential new construction
  • Ensuring best value and full regulatory compliance throughout every stage

Job Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as Property, Surveying, Construction, Business, or Finance.
    or
  • Approximately 5 years of experience in property transaction negotiation, development appraisal, or a related field.
  • A solid understanding of the social and affordable housing sector and the operational context for AHBs in Ireland.
  • Knowledge of the residential development process and the construction project lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
  • Full, valid Irish driving license and access to private transport.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience in managing Employer Led (traditional) construction projects.
  • Technical knowledge of Planning, Building Control, and Building Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery – Work within the Development Team to source, secure, and manage new housing opportunities from inception to completion (turnkey and build).
  • Project Management – Potentially project-manage the AHB’s own construction projects, acting as the client’s representative and coordinating with design and construction teams.
  • Feasibility & Finance – Carry out development and financial feasibility appraisals to assess project viability.
  • Stakeholder Liaison – Maintain strong communication and working relationships with local authorities, the Department of Housing, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Compliance – Ensure all projects comply with relevant planning, building control, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Reporting – Prepare updates and reports for internal management, development sub-committees, and the Board as required.
