The Role

The Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland is recruiting a Panel of Quality Assurance Surveyors (technical valuation specialists) to support the delivery of a risk-based programme ensuring members compliance with Red Book Standards and the Valuer Registration Scheme.

 

Services (Contract for Services)

By serving as a Quality Assurance Surveyor, you are required to:

  1. Carry out a pre-agreed number of remote reviews of the professional work of SCSI valuer members to assess compliance with Red Book, Valuation Registration Rules and best practice.
  2. Feedback your findings to the member.
  3. Coach and educate the member in compliance and assist with creating of suitable framework documents, systems, and processes to support compliance.
  4. Assess and grade the compliance of members and to write detailed findings reports.
  5. Make presentations at a pre-agreed number of CPDs and/or workshops sharing best practice and experience.
  6. Attend scheduled online meetings with SCSI and RICS Executive as required.

Experience / Skills Required

MSCSI MRICS or FSCSI FRICS or Assoc. SCSI Assoc. RICS preferrablely with 10 years relevant post-qualification experience

  • Valuation Surveyor with current or previous Registered Valuer status and wide experience in providing valuations for secured lending and other purposes
  • Effective and successful personal time management and work prioritisation
  • Effective management of risk through identification, information analysis and mitigation
  • Ability to demonstrate confident, robust, and proportionate decision making, arriving at evidence-based decisions
  • Strong personal and excellent written communication skills to influence and inspire. Can tailor message to the audience, to influence or inform with clarity and precision and in plain English, and build engagement and confidence
  • Comfortable using / interrogating online systems to input, extract and analyse data
  • Strong intellectual capability, curiosity, agile and a good understanding of the issues affecting the sector and the profession
  • Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired

  • A full Irish driving licence and car owner.
  • Experience in the valuation of the following asset classes including residential, agricultural, commercial, plant and machinery, leisure and hotels.

 

Fees Payable

Fees will be paid per review (to include report) and per CPD/workshop delivery. A standard retainer fee will be paid in respect of attendance at meetings with the Executive team and other associated duties.

Details of fees payable will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

 

Training and Induction

A training and induction programme will be provided by SCSI and RICS to successful applicants.

Important notice for potential candidates

Whilst current or previous registered valuer status is desirable, serving as a Quality Assurance Surveyor will require resignation from the Valuer Registration Panel for the duration of service as a Quality Assurance Surveyor.

Before applying, potential candidates should consider whether other works undertaken by them may conflict with the work of a Quality Assurance Surveyor.

 

The panel will be established for a period of 3 years and may be renewed. Membership of the panel is predicated on successful completion of an annual performance review.
