Job Responsibilities
Fingal County Council is one of the county’s major local employers and currently employs approximately 1,600 staff. The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services which can be broadly described under the headings of the provision of physical and social infrastructure, housing, economic and tourism development, community development, recreation and amenity services and the management of the planning and environmental regulatory framework. The role of the County Council as provided for in law is to represent, lead and serve the communities of Fingal.
An opportunity now exists in Fingal Council for the position of Senior Executive Quantity Surveyor.
Job Summary/Description:
Fingal County Council is seeking to fill a post of Senior Executive Quantity Surveyor. This post is for a full-time position in the Architect’s Department, which is responsible for ensuring provision of a high level of Architectural Services consisting of architectural design, conservation, urban design and building procurement and quantity surveying services to all departments of Fingal County Council.
The Department has a varied pattern of work with a renewed emphasis on the provision of new social and affordable housing in line with government policy. In addition, it has a primary role in devising and implementing programmes to best use Fingal County Councils existing housing stock. The department also works on public and community buildings.
The Architects Department functions as an integrated service to all departments in the Council and the person appointed will report to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.

Job Requirements
Character
Each candidate must be of good character.
Health
Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Education, Training, Experience, etc.
Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms :
- Hold a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying that is prescribed under the Building Control Act 2007, or a qualification in Quantity Surveying that is equivalent to a qualification so prescribed in Section 29 of the Building Control Act 2007, and:
- Be eligible for registration as a Quantity Surveyor under the Building Control Act 2007 without requiring further assessment. Any appointment by the employing local authority will be subject to registration under the Act;
- Have at least seven years satisfactory relevant experience in quantity surveying;
- Possess a high standard of technical training and expertise;
- Possess a high standard of administrative and management experience; and
- Have satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire such knowledge.
