[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Planning and Building Unit of the Department of Education is responsible for identifying the current and future infrastructure requirements for the education sector and for overseeing the delivery of a capital programme to deliver accommodation to the required standard, within the allocated resources, and in line with the strategic direction of the Department.

Reporting directly to a Technical Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will have significant interaction with both internal and external stakeholders. They will be required to present the Departments position on all relevant policy matters, advise on matters relating to procurement and cost control of building projects and will monitor and advise on cost control of projects and work programmes over their inception, procurement and delivery.

Successful candidates will hold a qualification in Quantity Surveying at minimum level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ), be included or eligible to be included on the Register of Quantity Surveyors administered by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI), and be a Chartered member of a professional body. They must also have a minimum of five years’ post qualification practical quantity surveying experience in a senior technical position working on significant projects.
