Role Description

  • Assist in the preparation of tender specification and procurement of specialist surveying equipment, accessories, and survey services.
  • Participate in training as required to maintain awareness of new relevant techniques and to keep the survey instrumentation updated and maintained to a high quality and standard.
  • Assist in provision of specialist surveying advice and survey services as may be required by various TII departments.
  • Carry out emergency survey work as may be necessary from time to time.
  • Provide some out of hour work to meet the project programme or to maintain as safe road and light rail networks.
  • Where required, represent TII at conferences and trade events that are relevant to Geomatics and its application.
  • Participate in QA reviews and technical audits of contractors, technical service providers and internal audits as required.
  • Follow all legislation and relevant internal procedures, especially those pertaining to safety, work permits, use and care for vehicles and survey equipment.
  • Undertake such tasks, activities or other duties as may be required or assigned as appropriate to the grade.

Successful candidates must have

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the key competencies for this Grade 3 position as identified in Appendix A, as well as the following experience and job-specific requirements:

  • A minimum Level 8 third level qualification in Geomatics is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 – 3 years’ relevant and satisfactory experience of working in the geospatial and construction environment.
  • Membership of the Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland (SCSI/RICS) or working towards membership.
  • A good knowledge and practice of 3D survey processing using, but not limited to, SCC, Trimble Business Centre, Trimble Realworks, StarNet, AutoDesk, MicroStation, MXROAD, CloudWorks, FaroScene, GRPwin, Sensefly EMotion, Pix4D, GeoSlam, Revit, Civil 3D, NavisWorks.
  • Intermediate to advanced level MS Office experience – particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook (PowerPoint would also be an advantage). Working experience of MS Teams or similar shared platforms is required plus a proven aptitude to pick up other software quickly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in particular report writing and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Experience of working with diverse teams. • Experience of planning, undertaking, and delivering upon multiple concurrent tasks as assigned.
  • Understanding and sensitivity in dealing with others, discreet and persuasive when communicating in general.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with strong multitasking capabilities.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of, or the ability to quickly learn, the public sector working environment.
  • Fluency in the English language, both written and oral.
  • Full clean EU driving licence for Class B vehicles.
  • Own vehicle desirable with relevant insurance. Relevant mileage will be paid based on TII & current public sector policies
