Join us on the 14th May for a CPD on Human Trafficking and Labour Exploitation. This session will provide basic information about human trafficking, with a particular focus on labour exploitation in the construction and surveying industries. It aims to raise awareness and equip attendees with the knowledge to contribute to the prevention of exploitation in their daily work. 

Introduction: IOM’s works in Ireland
What is Trafficking ? 

An overview of what human trafficking is, how it operates, and the latest trends across Ireland and Europe.  

Focus Area: Labour Exploitation in Construction and Surveying
A closer look at what trafficking and labour exploitation can look like in this sector, including real-world examples and indicators relevant to SCSI professionals. 
How to Identify and Report
Guidance on recognising potential cases of trafficking in practice, how to respond appropriately, and who to report to for safe and effective action.

IOM Ireland – Protection Unit 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.  

IOM Ireland’s Protection Unit works to uphold the rights and safety of vulnerable migrants, with a focus on counter-trafficking, community policing, and responding to domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence (DSGBV).  

The unit provides support to victims of trafficking through cultural mediation services, engages in awareness-raising and capacity building with frontline professionals, and partners to enhance protection and supports to potential victims of Trafficking and DSGBV.
