Join us on the 27th November for a CPD on the Launch of the SCSIs Real Cost of Apartment Block Maintenance – Examination of Sinking Funds.
During the presentation, the authors will cover:
- Professional perspectives on Sinking Funds, with input from Chartered Property and Facilities Management Surveyors and the Apartment Owners Network (AON).
- Insights into the use of Building Investment Fund (BIF) Reports as a key tool for forecasting long-term maintenance costs.
- A real-cost analysis of maintenance and replacement of common areas, based on case studies from Dublin.
- A comparison of current property owner contributions to Sinking Funds versus the recommended provisions needed for adequate long-term maintenance.
Speakers
Adam Bermingham joined the SCSI as the Sustainability Manager in January 2024. He brings over 7 years of experience in environmental science research, specifically focusing on air quality and climate assessments in EIARs and air quality monitoring techniques. He completed his PhD in Environmental Sciences from Northumbria University in 2020 and also holds a MSc in Climate Change from Maynooth University. He is a member of the Practice and Policy Team at the SCSI and has contributed to numerous publications since he has joined.
Kevin Hollingsworth is the current President of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland. He also acts as an assessor for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) for surveyors to become Chartered.
Kevin set up Omega Surveying Services in 2013 and currently acts as the managing director. Kevin manages the team of surveyors to attend to the company’s commercial, management company and receiver clients. Kevin has provided professional services for commercial clients such as assigned certifier, dilapidations, pre purchase surveys and compliance checks to a variety of property types.
Kevin is a registered mediator and an experienced expert witness having given evidence in the high court and commercial court. Kevin has also given evidence to Oireachtas committees on construction issues.
Kevin was on the government appointed expert working group that that produced the report “Defects in Apartments” regarding legacy defect to homes throughout Ireland. Kevin is also an experienced media contributor and has appeared on 6.01 News, Primetime, RTE investigates, Tonight with Vincent Brown and multiple radio shows such as Morning Ireland.
Aoife O’Sullivan is a Chartered Property Surveyor with strong leadership, relationship management and negotiation skills. Aoife has gained over 15 years of property industry experience and is passionate about the industry and believes in delivering excellence to both my organisation and clients alike. Committed to improving knowledge in our industry Aoife has been a member of SCSI’s Residential Sub-Committee and also contributed to the Irish Times Property Clinic.
