Eoin O’ Dowd is an Advisor in the Building Standards Advisory Unit in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, having joined the Department in 2018. He works primarily in the areas of accessibility, fire safety and the Building Control system. He joined Carlow Fire & Rescue Service in 2008 as an Assistant Chief Fire Officer. In 2015 he was seconded to the Local Government Management Agency, on the Building Control Management Project, before joining Dublin Fire Brigade in 2016, as a Senior Executive Fire Prevention Officer.
He also lectures, occasionally, in the areas of Building Control Legislation and Part B / Technical Guidance Document B as part of the Fire Safety Practice Postgraduate Diploma in Trinity College Dublin.
He is a Chartered Building Control Surveyor and Registered Building Surveyor.
