We are delighted to support World Green Building Week by hosting the SCSI Sustainability Online Week Series 2024. Throughout this week from September 9th – 13th our online series, we will look at a number of topics under the theme from the WorldGBC’s network of #BuildingTheTransition across three areas: Reduce, Electrify, Adapt.
Join us on September 13th at 11am where we will be joined by industry experts with a live and interactive shared panel discussion during this years SCSI Sustainability Week Series. For our fifth and final session we will look at Smart Healthy Homes and Workspaces. This session will be chaired by Marcus O’ Connor from MFO The Property Professionals. Marcus will be joined by Niamh Comber, Head of Nationwide with DNG and Simon Jones from Air Quality Matters.
Marcus O’ Connor – MFO The Property Professionals
Marcus O’Connor is the managing director & owner of MFO The Property Professionals. Marcus has over 25 years’ experience in the property industry. Marcus is a Fellow of the SCSI and the RICS. Marcus is a former YSCSI President & Council Member and is now very actively involved in the SCSI as the current Vice Chairperson of the Residential Agency Professional Group, Vice Chairperson of the Policy & Procedures Committee, and the Residential Professional Group Rep for the Sustainability Working Group. He is also a former RTB Adjudicator but now represents Landlords with difficult tenancy situations in the RTB on a very regular basis. Finally, Marcus is a regular contributor to the Irish Times Property Clinic where he writes articles about current residential tenancy legislation and how it can affect the landlord and tenant relationship.
Niamh Comber – Head of Nationwide DNG
As the Head of DNG Nationwide, Niamh helps new and existing franchise partners grow and optimize their businesses by implementing proven procedures, technology, and industry standards. Niamh have over 20 years of experience in the property and estate agent sector, and is an associate member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCSI) and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Niamh’s passion is to support and empower our franchise network, which consists of 80 offices across Ireland, by providing them with training, guidance, and resources. Niamh always looking for opportunities to enhance our brand reputation, customer satisfaction, and market share.
Simon Jones – Air Quality Matters
With nearly 20 years of experience in the Housing, Construction, and Building Services
Sector. I have been a passionate advocate for better standards and outcomes in the sector, especially around air quality, ventilation and health.An Associate Member of both The Institute of Environmental Science and the Institute of Air Quality Management. Expert advisor to NPHET and Government on Ventilation during the pandemic.
Chair of the Industry Advisory Committee for the International Energy Agency (IEA) annex 5 Air Quality and Ventilation (AIVC), scientific committee and previous board member for Ireland. Advisory Board for the UK Centre for Moisture in Buildings (UKCMB), Well Accredited Professional and Fitwel Ambassador. I have spent years in a unique position in the industry, academic and regulatory arenas. An expert generalist who excels in translating the nuanced and technical in a clear way with a purpose.
