This presentation will discuss the principles of flood risk assessment and the information and processes involved in putting a Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) together. Case studies will be used to demonstrate where Flood Risk Assessments have been used to inform development design and Section 50 applications.
Speaker bio:
Alan Kiernan has an honours degree in Environmental Science from IT Sligo and a Post Grad Diploma in Environmental Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin. He has worked for 18 years in Environmental Licensing & Enforcement, Contaminated Land and Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) with Cavan and Galway County Councils, OHES and ORS Engineering. He is now an Associate at ORS in Mullingar where he has prepared FRAs for residential, commercial and industrial developments and to accompany Section 50 applications to the OPW.
