Understand how every material we use has an environmental impact on the planet, and what that impact is. The talk will also introduce you to the key international standard for measuring the carbon cost of a building, EN15978, and the new EU project designed to get us all talking the same language about it.
Speaker bio – Stephen Barrett
Stephen joined IGBC in 2020 to work on Whole Life Carbon projects. He is working on Level(s), the EU initiative to promote a common language around the environmental performance of buildings, and the WGBC #BuildingLife campaign set up to drive change in public policy and private sector awareness of WLC . He has an MSc. in Sustainability & Adaptation in the Built Environment – his thesis focused on Life Cycle Analysis methodology and application and WLC assessment at the building level. Prior to joining the IGBC he worked in the Environmental Consultancy team at Atelier Ten as an LCA specialist and his background is in data management, analysis and presentation.
